Our friends with the St. Hubertus Schϋtzenverein in San Diego, California hosted their annual Schϋtzenfest over the weekend of June 21-23, 2024. 18 of our Schϋtzen members (the largest representation from our group to ever make this trip!), along with our friends from Las Vegas Schϋtzen attended the event.
Friday evening, the groups enjoyed dinner and drinks together. On Saturday, the group spent the afternoon in North Park practicing their hand at Axe Throwing. That evening, the festivities began with music from Germania Blaskapelle, St Hubertus' own brass band. After a great dinner prepared by the German American Societies of San Diego, St. Hubertus' new König and his Ritters were announced. The evening continued on with music, dancing, and of course, a Prost or two. Sunday morning was the competition shooting. Brea's shooting team included Alistair Craig, Scott Klages and Mike Loftus. Cooper Dellsman competed in the Youth Schϋtzen competition. After all of the teams had shot, and the scores were tallied, the winners were:
1st Place - Brea with 265 pts
2nd Place - San Diego with 259 pts
3rd Place - Las Vegas with 227 pts
