The Phoenix Schϋtzen's Youth Marksmanship Program has multiple goals. We use 10 meter Olympic rifle shooting as a vehicle to teach firearm safety, and to provide an environment where both individual performance and team cooperation are important. Our members learn that competitive shooting, and as with most sports, requires both physical training and mental discipline. On top of all that, our youth are exposed to Schϋtzen history and German culture that just isn't part of other sporting or academic programs. Finally, we like to believe that they enjoy an element of fun with the program.
